Medication Checking
The medication checking service is delivered by Abbott Toxicology Ltd and administered by HOPS. The service is called Chemist-on-Call and is available 24hrs a day, 7 days a week online or by phone.
The medication checking service can be used for a person taking a single medication or multiple medications. Abbott will require some routine information about the person, their role, the medication and they will provide a recommendation advising on any restrictions to work.
Once you have logged in or phoned up you will need to provide the following information:
– Name of person making the check
– Name and job title of subject person. Optionally, also their phone/email.
– Whether they carry out safety critical duties, whether they carry out lone working.
– Line Manager title, name, phone, email.
– Details of mediation: name, strength, dosage, timings, taken before, side effect experience
– Confirm if more than one medication.
The information will then be submitted to a toxicologist for advice.
Test Results
The result of all medication checking will be communicated by email to the railway representative, or other email address given when submitting the checking request details.
Subject identities, medication and results are known to HOPS HQ. There is no way to avoid this while maintaining a central account for all railway sites. As with all such data, HOPS maintains sufficient security to ensure the confidentiality of this data.
