Spot Report enables heritage railway staff to report non-urgent safety concerns, hazards and near misses.
Empowering staff to take action when faced with such an issue is a vital part of the safety culture for any heritage railway.
The Spot Report system is administered through HOPS, where many briefing and training resources are available:
* Spot Report Posters (blanks and customised with railway logo)
* Presentation Slides (blanks and customised with railway logo)
* Presenter’s Notes
* Prompt cards, designed for giving to all staff as part of their briefing.
* Help Videos
You are welcome to edit and adjust the presentation slides to fit in your other staff briefings or online staff meetings etc, in connection with the promotion of Spot Report.
If you are an Advanced HOPS organisation and your railway isn’t already listed in the downloads, you can request customised posters and slides by raising a support ticket in the Helpdesk.
We have also produced two help videos:
* One for users, which you may wish to distribute via the YouTube link as a means of briefing users about the system.

* One for the Spot Report Administrator – the person who will be administering the incoming reports, assigning them for action, closing them off, and giving feedback to the reporter.

Based on feedback received we may produce some further presentation slides after Christmas, for use in pre-season briefings that give some detail about usage of the system and what positive resolutions have been achieved.
Please let us know your feedback and comments. We hope all this is useful, helps promote positive safety culture, and helps contribute to a good position of being able to demonstrate effort to engage with staff on safety issues.
